Remote First Aid Training Course Overview

The First Aid in Remote or Isolated Sites (HLTAID013) course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide first aid in challenging environments where medical assistance may be limited or delayed. This comprehensive training program covers the key components of first aid, including the fundamentals of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and general first aid techniques.

The course also encompasses the essential skills and strategies required to address emergencies and provide effective first aid in remote or isolated locations. Participants will learn how to assess and manage injuries, respond to medical emergencies, and apply appropriate first aid techniques, all within the unique context of remote or isolated sites.

Course Objectives:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of first aid principles and their application in remote or isolated settings.
  • Acquire the skills to assess and respond to medical emergencies effectively.
  • Demonstrate competence in performing CPR techniques in remote or isolated environments.
  • Identify and manage injuries and illnesses specific to remote or isolated sites.

It is also valuable for anyone seeking to enhance their first aid skills beyond basic CPR and general first aid knowledge.

Course Delivery

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Outcomes

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

Entry Requirements

All students must be literate in the English language (no interpreters allowed).

All students must be physically capable to Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for 2 minutes non-stop, on an adult manikin on the ground floor.

At enquiry, students can enter the program by expressing an interest and being sent an information pack that contains a booking notification and course information (Course Brochure). This interest process enables the RTO and client to work together to ensure the course is suitable for them and to identify any additional support needs & make adequate provisions.

No pre-requisites exist for this Unit of Competency.

Pathways

Training & Education Pathways: After achieving these units of competency students may undertake a range of associated health and emergency response units and qualifications.

Employment Pathways: After achieving these units of competency students may seek employment or additional responsibilities as a Site First Aider in all industries.
