Rig Ready Training Course Overview

This Rig Ready Program will deliver both theoretical and practical training for the following:

  • Legislation, Australian standards and other relevant documentation
  • Hazard identification, assessment & control
  • Work permits
  • Atmospheric testing
  • Entry and work in confined spaces
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (Inc SCBA, Harnesses, Fall Arrest Systems)
  • Working at heights / depths
  • Safe operation of vehicle in the field (Off Road)
  • First Aid
  • CPR

Link Recourses use a wide range of equipment, and depending on the personnel’s specific requirements our trainers will contextualise the course to your workplace setting. This course is highly practical and hands on.

Target Audience

This course is targeted at new entrants, re-entering personnel and candidates seeking employment in the upstream oil & gas drilling and well servicing industry.

While some students may have completed this (or a superseded) unit in the past and require a refresher; the target audience is typically persons with no or limited knowledge, skills and experience in this skill set.

Course Delivery

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Outcomes of Rig Ready Training

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

Entry Requirements

All students must be literate in the English language (no interpreters allowed).

All students must be physically capable of entering and working in a confined space, performing physical tasks while wearing SCBA weighing up to 12kg

Due to the physical performance requirements of this unit, all students are to have a reasonable level of mental and physical fitness.

People with back, leg, arm or joint injuries may find it difficult to climb / access the practical area and perform activities at height and in confined spaces. (Please note that students must be physically capable of wearing a harness, climbing for significant periods of time and crawling through confined spaces).

Vehicle operators must have the appropriate class of driver’s licence before taking charge of the vehicle and be physically capable of operating the vehicle.

All students must be physically capable to Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for 2 minutes non-stop, on an adult manikin on the ground floor.

At enquiry, students can enter the program by expressing an interest and being sent an information pack that contains booking notification and course information (Course Brochure). This interest process enables the RTO and client to work together to ensure the course is suitable for them and to identify any additional support needs & make adequate provisions

No pre-requisites exist for these Units of Competency.

Training & Education Pathways: After achieving these units of competency students may undertake a range of associated resources and infrastructure units and qualifications

Employment Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency students may seek employment in resources and infrastructure industries; specifically on drilling rigs.
