Load Restraint Training Course Overview

Load Restraint Training combines two essential courses, TLID0015 – Load and unload goods/cargo and TLIA1001 – Secure cargo, to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and skills for the safe and efficient transportation of goods.

TLID0015 – Load and unload goods/cargo:

This component of the training focuses on the proper procedures and techniques for loading and unloading goods or cargo, ensuring they are handled safely and efficiently. Participants will learn how to inspect, handle, and stack goods while adhering to relevant safety regulations and industry best practices. Topics covered may include equipment operation, load planning, and risk assessment.

TLIA1001 – Secure cargo:

The second part of the training, TLIA1001 – Secure cargo, covers the critical aspect of restraining and securing cargo to prevent shifting or falling during transportation. Participants will gain a deep understanding of different types of restraints, load securing methods, and how to calculate the required restraint force based on the cargo’s weight and dimensions. Emphasis will be placed on ensuring that cargo remains stable and safe throughout the journey.

This training is designed for individuals involved in the logistics, transport, and warehousing industries, as well as anyone responsible for loading, unloading, and securing cargo on various types of vehicles, including:

  • Warehouse and logistics personnel
  • Truck drivers
  • Freight and transport operators

  • Anyone involved in cargo handling and transportation

Course Delivery

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Outcomes of Load Restraint Training

Upon successful completion of the Load Restraint Training courses, students will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework for TLID0015 – Load and unload goods/cargo and TLIA1001 – Secure cargo. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

Entry Requirements

All students must be literate in the English language (no interpreters allowed). All students must be physically capable of operating machinery or equipment required to load and unload goods/cargo and securing cargo.

At enquiry, students can enter the program by expressing an interest and being sent an information pack that contains a booking notification and course information (Course Brochure). This interest process enables the RTO and client to work together to ensure the course is suitable for them and to identify any additional support needs and make adequate provisions.

No pre-requisites exist for this Unit of Competency.
