Standard 11 (S11) & BMA Induction Course Overview

The Standard 11 Induction (GIQ) training and assessment is suitable for all personal that would like to enter and work safely in the Queensland Coal and Metalliferous mining industry.  This comprehensive course, also known as ‘GIQ’ or ‘S11’ meets all the requirements for Recognised Standard 11 training set by the Queensland Mining Safety Inspectorate and includes the 6 nationally recognised units of competency required to meet the training needs of Standard 11 for induction. The Standard 11 Induction focuses on the below components:

  • Required knowledge of legislation
  • Appropriate equipment and PPE
  • General Safety (Including Risk Management)
  • Isolation and tagging
  • Emergency procedures
  • Lifesaving and initial response First Aid
  • Firefighting and fire prevention
  • The Environment
  • General mining overview

Students who are deemed competent from the Standard 11 mining Induction course will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training (RTO 45483).

The BMA Induction course, specifically designed for employees and contractors who will be stepping onto a BMA site. During the BMA Induction, you will complete the approved training and assessments, which upon successful completion you will be issued with a Statement of Completion for BMA Core Induction. Please note this course is ONLY available for BMA employees and contractors.

Course Delivery

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

How To enrol

BMA employees and contractors:

  • Find a course – select a course you would like to book into from the dates/locations provided above.
  • Complete the enrolment form – Complete the online enrolment form. For the question ‘Would you like to pay for this course now?’, please select ‘Yes with a purchase order’ and for the ‘Purchase Order’ number, enter “BMA PO”. Once the form has been completed, click SUBMIT.
  • Booking confirmation – Once you have been confirmed in a course, you’ll receive an ‘Booking Confirmation’ email. This email contains all the information you require for your course.
  • Course completion – After successfully completing the training course, you will be issues with either a Statement of Attainment or Attendance Certificate (please allow 1-3 business days for this to be issued).
