The MSMSS00018 — Operate a high pressure water jetting system (HPWJ) operator skill set is designed to provide participants with the advanced knowledge and practical skills required to operate high pressure water jetting systems safely and effectively. This nationally recognised qualification equips workers with the technical capabilities to perform complex water jetting tasks, manage operational hazards, and supervise assistants on site.

This course goes beyond basic assisting duties — it prepares participants to take responsibility for setup, operation, troubleshooting, and overall control of high pressure water jetting equipment in a range of industrial and commercial environments.

Course Content

Participants will learn to:

  • Prepare and inspect high pressure water jetting systems for operation
  • Select and assemble appropriate equipment and accessories
  • Perform high pressure water jetting tasks across various applications (e.g., cleaning, cutting, demolition, surface preparation)
  • Identify and control hazards, and implement safety procedures
  • Supervise HPWJ assistants during operations
  • Complete pre- and post-operational checks, maintenance, and reporting

 

The course includes comprehensive practical assessments to validate skills in realistic, job-like conditions. It is a requirement for all participants under the performance evidence of this Skill Set to perform the activities for a period of 120 hours under supervision prior to being deemed competent.

Course delivery

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.
