Link Resources’ FWPCOT3326 4WD Recovery Training course combines theoretical and practical elements, covering various recovery techniques and safety practices. The theory covers the safe operation and selection of appropriate equipment such as soft shackles, kinetic rope, and red rings, along with an understanding of strap recovery, gross vehicle mass considerations, recovery load management, and safety measures. The course also includes hazard identification, the selection of appropriate personal protective equipment, and effective communication during recovery operations.
Practical training provides hands-on experience with other recovery tools, including high lift jacks, exhaust jacks, and tirfur winches, while teaching students how to coordinate and maintain a safe 4WD vehicle recovery. The course also covers emergency practices, health and safety protocols, and workplace environmental protection procedures, ensuring participants are fully equipped to handle off-road recovery operations safely and responsibly in any situation.

This 4WD training course is for professionals who use vehicle recovery equipment or travel to remote areas. It suits those responsible for recovery operations in challenging environments, including operating 4WD vehicles with winch systems.
This course particularly benefits 4WD enthusiasts, tour operators, and personnel working in industries where off-road driving and recovery are essential skills.
Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).
Face-to-face training and assessment are conducted at one of Link Resources’ purpose-built 4WD training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Students must be literate in English (no interpreters allowed)
Operators must hold a driver’s licence or a provisional driver’s licence prior to commencing this unit and be physically fit to operate the vehicle, as well as any personal protective equipment relevant to the course.
Any recovery gear supplied with the vehicle. Note: Please do not purchase any recovery tools prior to the course unless discussed with us.
Students can express interest at the enquiry stage and receive an information pack with course details and booking instructions. This allows the RTO and client to assess the course’s suitability and identify any additional support requirements.
