This First aid training course is designed to give students the necessary practical and theoretical knowledge they need to confidently apply First aid and CPR in a range of situations. The delivery of this training includes but is not limited to the below:

Allergic reactions
Anaphylaxis
Asthma
Basic wound care
Non-life-threatening and life-threatening bleeding
Burns
Shock
Cardiac arrest
Envenomation – all current treatments
Eye injuries
Fractures, dislocations, strains and sprains
Poisoning
Recognise and assess an emergency situation
Ensure safety for self, bystanders and casualty
Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid principles
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with ARC guidelines.

Target audience

Provide first aid training is suitable for the general public or anyone that may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Outcomes

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

Course delivery

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Entry requirements

All students must be literate in the English language (no interpreters allowed).

All students must be physically capable to Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for 2 minutes non-stop, on an adult manikin on the ground/floor.

At enquiry, students can enter the program by expressing an interest and being sent an information pack that contains a booking notification and course information (Course Brochure). This interest process enables the RTO and client to work together to ensure the course is suitable for them and to identify any additional support needs & make adequate provisions.

No pre-requisites exist for this Unit of Competency.

Training & Education Pathways: After achieving these units of competency students may undertake a range of associated health and emergency response units and qualifications.
Employment Pathways: After achieving these units of competency students may seek employment or additional responsibilities as a Site First Aider in all industries.

CITB Funding Available

South Australian workers in the building and construction industry may be eligible for CITB funding for this course.

CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) is a whole-of-industry led organisation that provides support to attract, train and retain South Australian building and construction workers through leadership in training and skills development. CITB funding is available for this course, which may reduce the cost of training for eligible workers and their employers.
