AHCMOM217 – Operate Quad Bikes is a nationally recognised training course designed to develop the skills, knowledge and safe behaviours required to confidently and legally operate a quad bike in diverse workplace settings.

Delivered face-to-face over a half-day session, this quad bike training covers real-world quad bike operation, including pre-start checks, terrain navigation, vehicle maintenance, and shut down procedures. Whether you’re working on agricultural land, in mining operations, or managing council assets, this course provides the knowledge required for safe operation in line with Australian safety standards and work health responsibilities.

This course has been tailored for those who operate and maintain quad bikes as part of their job, with practical outcomes that apply directly to high-risk and remote environments.

Outcomes of AHCMOM217 quad bike training

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for AHCMOM217, a nationally recognised training unit under the Australian Qualifications Framework, issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

This certification supports employer compliance, team safety, and individual capability when it comes to the safe and effective operation of quad bikes and other vehicles on site.

Course delivery

Training is delivered face-to-face by experienced instructors and includes both theory and practical components. The course content is contextualised to reflect real workplace environments, offering life experience rather than classroom-only scenarios.

Participants will:

  • Learn how to safely operate quad bikes across varied terrain
  • Complete pre-start checks and routine maintenance
  • Understand how to load, secure and unload quad bikes (optional module)
  • Practice shut down procedures and emergency responses
  • Gain insight into applicable work health and safety laws and responsibilities

Quad bike training is conducted at purpose-built driver training facilities or can be delivered on your site (subject to terrain suitability).

Entry requirements

There are no formal pre-requisites, but participants must:

  • Be physically capable of operating a quad bike
  • Have basic English literacy (interpreters are not permitted)

 

You will also need to bring:

  • Your USI (Unique Student Identifier)
  • Personal protective equipment, including an Australian Standards helmet, safety gloves, and eye protection
  • Long-sleeved shirt, long pants, enclosed shoes with good grip, and a hat
  • Sunscreen, insect repellent, water, snacks, and a light lunch
  • Notepad and pen

 

Please note: Quad bikes are not supplied. If a vehicle is required, it must be arranged in advance through your organisation or supplier.
