Following the successful completion of the theoretical (face-to-face) training and associated assessments, learners are required to obtain practical workplace experience and successfully complete a final practical assessment before a Statement of Attainment can be issued.
This approach ensures learners have the opportunity to gain sufficient hands-on experience prior to working independently in traffic control and traffic management roles.
Practical experience requirements must be completed on declared Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) Category roads and must be finalised within six (6) months of successfully completing the theoretical component.
Link Resources has partnered with a number of Traffic Management Companies across Melbourne, Adelaide, and Launceston and can assist learners in arranging suitable practical work placement opportunities. Learners may also organise their own workplace to complete the required practical experience, subject to approval.
Learners are required to supply their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for practical work placement. PPE requirements may vary by site but will typically include:
Participants should confirm mandatory PPE requirements directly with their Traffic Management Company prior to attending site to ensure compliance.
The requirements for completing the practical component vary depending on the Temporary Traffic Management National Training Program undertaken.
The Traffic Controller (TC1) and Traffic Management Implementer (TMI1) practical components must be completed under direct supervision on a declared TTM Category 1 road.
This includes publicly accessible and operational roads that reflect real-world traffic control conditions. All site-specific, statutory, and safety requirements must be strictly observed at all times during practical training and assessment.
Participants must meet the following requirements to enrol and complete the course:
A Statement of Attainment for Construction Induction must be provided. A physical White Card alone may not meet entry evidence requirements.
Accepted unit codes include:
Participants should bring suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor practical activities. For the final practical assessment, students must attend in required PPE and bring their completed logbook (supplied during training).
Payment can be made via direct bank transfer, EFTPOS, cash, or cheque prior to the day of training.
For billing information, please email accounts@link-resources.com.au.
Please note: additional fees may apply depending on jurisdictional requirements (for example, lodging applications with relevant road authorities).
After meeting all course and practical experience requirements, students will be eligible to undertake further training and gain additional experience to progress to Category 2 roads, and ultimately to Category 3 road environments, where applicable.
Link Resources has purpose-built training facilities all across Australia to meet your specific training requirements.
