If you have been working in traffic management on Category 1 roads, you may not need to complete the full TC1 and TMI1 course. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows experienced traffic controllers and traffic management implementers to have their existing skills and knowledge formally assessed against the national standard, without repeating training you have already done in practice.
Link Resources offers a combined RPL pathway covering both TC1 (RIISS00058) and TMI1 (RIISS00060). The process is fully remote. You can apply and complete your assessment from anywhere in Australia.

RPL is a formal assessment process that recognises the skills and experience you have already developed on the job. Instead of attending a course, you submit evidence of your workplace experience and complete a competency conversation and written challenge test. If your evidence meets the national standard, you receive the same Statement of Attainment as someone who completed the full training.
Link Resources offers this as a combined TC1 and TMI1 RPL only. If you are not sure which skill sets apply to your situation, contact us and we can advise the right pathway for your experience level.
No. The entire RPL process is conducted remotely. You can submit your application, provide evidence, and complete the assessor conversation and challenge test from anywhere in Australia.
If your application is assessed as insufficient, or only partially sufficient, your assessor will explain the outcome and discuss next steps. Depending on the gap, this may mean gathering additional evidence or enrolling in the full TC1 and TMI1 course.
Timelines depend on how quickly you can gather and submit your evidence, and your availability for the competency conversation. Contact us for a current guide to typical turnaround times.
Yes. RIISS00058 and RIISS00060 are nationally recognised skill sets accepted by road agencies and employers across all states and territories under the Austroads National Temporary Traffic Management Training Program.
Contact us to discuss your situation. RPL may be appropriate if your certification has lapsed and you have continued working in the role. Our assessors can advise.
This course and all related training and assessment services are delivered by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO Provider Number 45483).
