Compaction is foundational to civil construction. Every road, pavement, and earthworks project depends on it being done correctly. On most civil sites, roller operators are expected to hold nationally recognised competency before working independently. Without it, employment eligibility and site access can be at risk.

Target audience

This course is designed for workers whose role requires them to operate a compaction roller in civil construction or infrastructure environments. This includes:

Course delivery

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

All students must be literate in the English language (no interpreters allowed).

At enquiry, students can enter the program by expressing an interest and being sent an information pack that contains a booking notification and course information (Course Brochure). This expression of interest enables the RTO and client to work together to identify any additional support needs & make adequate provisions.

Does this course include loading and unloading the roller onto a float?

The course includes assisting with loading and unloading as part of the relocation element. Independent loading and unloading of plant from a float/trailer is a separate competency covered by RIIHAN308F — Load and Unload Plant. If your role requires you to load and unload independently, speak to us about completing both units.

What do I need to wear?

Suitable clothing is required as a minimum: long trousers, t-shirt, and closed-in footwear. Steel-capped boots are recommended. Bring photo ID. Link Resources supplies all required training equipment, you’re welcome to bring your own PPE and any relevant workplace procedures if you have them.
