Traffic Management Training Course Overview

This unit develops a studentโ€™s skills and knowledge required to implement a traffic management plan / guidance scheme in the civil construction, resource and infrastructure industries.

This full course (including practical components) may be run over two days.

  • Day 1 is classroom based and includes 8 hours of theoretical delivery.
  • Day 2 is practical based; each participant will be assessed on their theoretical and practical competence by setting up a range of traffic management plans, whilst completing the required documents to go with it.*

Target Audience

Aimed at those who are required to read, interpret and implement Traffic Management plans and install or remove signs and devices as part of their job. Suitable for people working in any industry who require approved TMI workers.

Course Delivery

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Outcomes of Traffic Management Training

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment (RIIWHS302E โ€“ Implement traffic management plan and RIIRIS301E โ€“ Apply risk management processes) recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

Students will also receive a TMI card upon completion. TMRโ€™s TMI card is required to work on Queensland roads.

Course Prerequisites

Candidates must complete the Department of Transport & Main Roads Working in Proximity to Traffic eLearning programs as part of their learning. This is an additional fee and a requirement of being issued a TMI card.

Entry Requirements

  • Hold a current Construction White Card
  • Be over the age of 18 years and will need a basic level of language and literacy, as this course requires participants to complete a theory assessment and receive a 100% pass mark.

Pathways

Training & Education Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency students may undertake a range of associated resources and infrastructure units and qualifications.

Employment Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency students may seek employment in civil, construction, resources, manufacturing, utilities and maintenance industries.

Additional details:

*Please note there is also an option to complete the practical element of traffic management training within your workplace, or with a licensed operator. Candidates can arrange the placement themselves through their employer or a licensed Traffic Control company. If you decide to organise the practical component yourself, you will need to lodge your practical assessment once completed (within 3 months of completing the theory component), so our trainer can asses and sign off on your evidence. Link Resources Traffic Management Training will provide students with the documentation required, and lodge with our trainer for assessment within 3 months.
