As renovation, maintenance, and demolition activity continues across Adelaide and regional SA, the demand for workers trained in safe non-friable asbestos removal remains consistent. SafeWork SA requires anyone removing non-friable asbestos in the workplace to be supervised by, or hold, a Class B asbestos removal licence.

CPCWHS1001 Work safely in the construction industry is a pre-requisite to CPCCDE3028 Remove non-friable asbestos. All students must hold CPCWHS1001 Work safely in the construction industry prior to enrolling in CPCCDE3028 Remove non-friable asbestos.

All students must be literate in the English language (no interpreters allowed).

Non-friable asbestos is asbestos that is firmly bound in a solid matrix and cannot be crumbled by hand. It is found in cement sheeting, fibre cement products, vinyl floor tiles, textured coatings, and some roofing materials. It is also referred to as bonded asbestos.

Completing CPCCDE3028 is the required training step before applying for that licence.
