In Queensland, around 1,700 falls from height result in serious injury each year, with construction making up more than 20 per cent of those incidents. Falls from ladders, scaffolding, rooftops, and elevated work platforms remain some of the most common and preventable.
Under Queensland’s Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011, anyone exposed to a risk of falling is required to be properly trained. That includes contractors, trades, and site workers across a wide range of industries.
RIIWHS204E – Work safely at heights is a one-day, face-to-face course that covers hazard identification, correct equipment use, fall protection systems, and emergency response. The training is practical, hands-on, and aligned with real site conditions.
Courses run from our Warana training facility, with access to equipment and structures that reflect the work being done across the region. Group bookings and on-site training are also available for Sunshine Coas

RIIWHS204E – Work safely at heights
This course is suited to workers across the Sunshine Coast who are required to safely work at height, or who may be exposed to a fall risk as part of their role.
It is commonly undertaken by:
It is also relevant for anyone needing to meet Queensland WHS requirements before starting work on sites where working at height is involved.
Our head office and training facility is located at 8 Technology Drive, Warana, making it a convenient option for workers travelling from across the Sunshine Coast, including Caloundra, Maroochydore, and up toward Noosa.
Training is delivered in a facility designed to reflect real site conditions. You’ll get time on the tools, working with height systems and equipment used across various industries.
If you’re organising training for a team, we can deliver training courses tailored to your site and the way your team works. For groups of ten or more, we can run the course on-site, bringing all equipment and setting it up in your work environment.
At the enquiry stage, students are sent an information pack that includes course details and booking information. This process helps confirm that the course is suitable and allows any support needs to be discussed.
There are no formal prerequisites for this unit of competency.
Please see the Link Resources, Payments, Cancellations and Refund Policy below in Student Information for all details on Payments for your course.
Payment can be made via direct bank transfer, EFTPOS, cash or cheque. For billing information including who to write a cheque to, please email accounts@link-resources.com.au or call (07) 5491 2144.
On most worksites, height safety is just one part of the overall training required. Many workers build out their qualifications with additional units that cover different types of site risks and responsibilities. If you’re looking to broaden your skills or meet site requirements across multiple areas, you might also consider:
This course is often needed for roles where working at height is part of the day-to-day. It’s widely expected across construction, trades, maintenance, and infrastructure work, and is regularly asked for before stepping onto site in Queensland.
Link Resources has been supporting heavy industries across Australia since 2013, working across oil and gas, mining, construction, civil infrastructure, and utilities. This course is backed by that operational depth and experience across the industry.
Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483) delivers nationally recognised training that meets ASQA standards and is accepted by employers across Queensland and the rest of the country.
We run courses at your worksite for groups of ten or more, bringing all equipment and setting up in your environment. Your team trains where they work, under conditions they will encounter in their roles.
We run most of our courses multiple times per week, so there’s no waiting around for a date that works. Whether you need one person certified or a full crew, there’s a slot available.

Link Resources has purpose-built training facilities all across Australia to meet your specific training requirements.
Yes. Under Queensland’s Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011, anyone exposed to a risk of falling from one level to another must be trained and deemed competent before carrying out that work. This applies across construction, trades, maintenance, and many other site-based roles.
There is no formal expiry set by legislation. However, most employers and sites across Queensland expect workers to complete refresher training every 2 to 3 years to keep skills current and aligned with safety expectations.
Yes. Ladder safety is covered as part of the course, including correct selection, setup, and safe use across different surfaces and job types. Participants also learn when a ladder isn’t the right tool for the job and what alternatives should be considered first under Queensland’s hierarchy of controls.
Working at heights training is often completed alongside confined spaces training (RIIWHS202E) as both are common requirements across construction, resources, and maintenance worksites.
Other units frequently paired with this course include permit-to-work (MSMPER200) and elevating work platform operation (RIIHAN301E or TLILIC0005), depending on site requirements and the industry standards applicable to your role.
Participants are observed completing a range of hands-on tasks, including the proper use and fitting of harnesses and personal protective equipment, equipment inspection, and working through rescue planning scenarios. Assessors need to see that participants can apply what they’ve learned in realistic conditions and are capable of performing work safely.
This course and all related training and assessment services are delivered by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO Provider Number 45483).
From heavy industries to council organisations and individual personnel, Link Resources is the team helping you fill the gap in your qualifications or services.
