Course details

The Sunshine Coast is one of Queensland’s fastest growing regions, with a residential construction and renovation pipeline that regularly brings workers into contact with older properties containing bonded asbestos materials. Cement sheeting, textured coatings, and vinyl floor tiles installed before 1990 are present across residential and light commercial buildings throughout the region. SafeWork Queensland requires anyone removing non-friable asbestos in the workplace to be supervised by, or hold, a Class B asbestos removal licence.

Parking is available on site. The Warana facility is located in the Sunshine Coast Technology Park precinct, easily accessible from the Bruce Highway and central to Maroochydore, Caloundra, and Nambour.

To enrol in CPCCDE3028 Remove non-friable asbestos, you must hold:
CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

English language literacy is required. Interpreters are not permitted during assessment.

Non-friable asbestos is asbestos that is firmly bound in a solid matrix and cannot be crumbled by hand. It is found in cement sheeting, fibre cement products, vinyl floor tiles, textured coatings, and some roofing materials. It is also referred to as bonded asbestos.

In Queensland, removing more than 10 square metres of non-friable asbestos requires a Class B asbestos removal licence. Completing CPCCDE3028 is the required training step before applying for that licence through SafeWork Queensland. This course provides the competency foundation whether you are applying for a licence or working under supervision.

Yes. CPCCDE3028 is a nationally recognised unit of competency. Your Statement of Attainment is accepted by asbestos regulators and employers in all states and territories.

You receive a Statement of Attainment for CPCCDE3028 issued by Link Resources (RTO 45483) under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This is the required training qualification for a Class B asbestos removal licence application in Queensland.
