Course details

In every state and territory of Australia, you need a forklift truck high-risk work licence to operate a forklift truck. Completing our forklift licence course will give you a nationally recognised licence, so you can do this safely and with confidence.

This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift truck safely, as well as the certification you’ll need to become an accredited forklift driver in Australia.

What is a forklift truck?

A forklift truck is a powered industrial truck equipped with lifting media made up of a mast and an elevating load carriage. Attached to the elevating load carriage is a pair of fork arms or other arms that can be raised 900 mm or more above the ground. A person performing this work is required to hold a forklift truck high-risk work (HRW) licence. The definition of a forklift does NOT include pedestrian-operated trucks or pallet trucks, which do not presently require a forklift licence to operate.

Our course

This nationally recognised training course gives students the necessary knowledge and skills to safely operate a forklift truck, from planning the work, conducting routine safety checks, and shifting loads in a safe manner. You’ll also learn how to safely shut down a forklift, and how to secure your equipment once you’ve completed your operations.
