White Card Training Course Overview
This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to educates participants how to carry out tasks safely whilst working in the construction industry. If you intend to work in the construction industry in Australia, you may need a Construction Induction card or what is commonly referred to as “White Card”.
Prepare to work safely in the construction industry unit of competency requires personnel to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety, in order to prevent injury or harm to self and others. This course covers:.
- Identifying relevant standards & legislation requirements related to working on a construction site
- Identifying construction hazards & understanding risk control measures
- Identify ways to communicate with superiors and workers on site
- Identifying responsibilities and rights of workers & supervisors on site
- Applying safe work practices whilst working on construction sites
- Identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents & emergencies
- correctly selecting & fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work
This course is recommended for people intending to work in or currently working in the construction industry in Australia. The core clients for this unit are groups / large clients, new entrants and existing workers in the construction industry
Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.
As a condition of Workplace health and Safety Queensland (office of industrial relations), the White Card Course must only be delivered face to face in Queensland, subject to the exemption for students residing in a rural area who may receive training delivered electronically via online delivery (Includes web-based resources, computer-based resources and online interactions, and incorporates direct observation of the learner via audio and visual media in real time in accordance with the assessment requirements of the course, for use only when the student lives rurally).

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

All students must be literate in the English language (no interpreters allowed).
At enquiry, students can enter the program by expressing an interest and being sent an information pack that contains booking notification and course information (Course Brochure). This interest process enables the RTO and client to work together to ensure the course is suitable for them and to identify any additional support needs & make adequate provisions.
No pre-requisites exist for this Unit of Competency.
Training & Education Pathways: After achieving this of competency students may undertake a range of associated construction, resources and infrastructure units and qualifications.
Employment Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency students may seek employment in the construction or civil industries.
