This unit develops a student’s skills and knowledge required to implement a traffic management plan / guidance scheme in the civil construction, resource and infrastructure industries.
This full course (including practical components) may be run over two days.
- Day 1 Is Classroom Based And Includes 8 Hours Of Theoretical Delivery.
- Day 2 Is Practical Based; Each Participant Will Be Assessed On Their Theoretical And Practical Competence By Setting Up A Range Of Traffic Management Plans, Whilst Completing The Required Documents To Go With It.
Please note there is also an option to complete the practical element of traffic management training within your workplace, or with a licensed operator. Candidates can arrange the placement themselves through their employer or a licensed Traffic Control company. If you decide to organise the practical component yourself, you will need to lodge your practical assessment once completed (within 3 months of completing the theory component), so our trainer can asses and sign off on your evidence. Link Resources Traffic Management Training will provide students with the documentation required, and lodge with our trainer for assessment within 3 months.
As of October 1st 2019, it is a requirement for all students enrolling into RIIWHS302D Implement traffic management plan, to complete Working in proximity to traffic - Awareness Part 1 and Part 2. This can be completed prior to, or within 3 months of the workshop being delivered.

Traffic Management Course is aimed at those working in the civil construction / resource infrastructure industry where the implementation of traffic management is required.
There is no pre course learning required for this unit of competency.
Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment (RIIWHS302D Implement traffic management plan) recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

Candidates to the program must meet the requirements as set out in the Traffic Controller Accreditation Scheme – Approved Procedures (TCASAP)
These requirements are that a person must:
- Be A Natural Person
- Have held an open or provisional driver licence (Australian or foreign) within the last 5 years (this ensures applicants have an understanding of vehicle manoeuvrability and braking dynamics)
- Meet Medical Fitness And Suitability Criteria
- Have Held An Australian Or Foreign Provisional Or Open Drivers Licence Within The Last Five Years.
- Hold a current Construction White Card
- Be over the age of 18 years and will need a basic level of language and literacy, as this course requires participants to complete a theory assessment and receive a 100% pass mark.
Training & Education Pathways: After achieving these units of competency students may undertake a range of associated resources and infrastructure units and qualifications.
Employment Pathways: After achieving these units of competency students may seek employment in civil, construction, resources, manufacturing, utilities and maintenance industries.

Recognition Of Prior Learning And Credit Transfer
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgement of a persons current skills and knowledge acquired through previous training, work or life experience.
Credit Transfer (CT) is the granting of credit to an individual for units of competency / modules previous completed.
Equipment & PPE Requirements
For Traffic Control and Traffic Managment Workshops (including refresher for TMI), students will be required to obtain the following PPE to complete their practical assessment
- Long Pants with reflective stripes
- Long Sleeved High Visibility shirt with reflective stripes
- Hard Hat with brim
- Steel capped safety boots
- Safety glasses (sunglasses ok)
