Course details

This nationally recognised four wheel drive training builds on core 4WD operating skills, with a focus on the demanding terrain and conditions faced in remote and off-road industry work. Participants learn to prepare for trips into difficult terrain, operate safely on steep ascents and descents, negotiate rutted, rocky, sandy and slippery surfaces, and complete water crossings using the correct vehicle set-up and technique.

Training also covers post-trip vehicle inspection, fault reporting, and the safe use of recovery and communication equipment in remote locations. FWPCOT3329 can be incorporated alongside other four wheel drive units, including RIIVEH305F Operate and maintain a four wheel drive vehicle, to build a broader four wheel drive skill set for workers in mining, construction, utilities, agriculture and emergency services.

Please note: the price of this course includes 4WD vehicle hire. If you prefer to use your own vehicle, you’re welcome to do so provided it is roadworthy, registered, insured, fitted with low range four wheel drive, and suitable off-road tyres.
