Course Overview

This Weed and Seed / inspection course covers the skills and knowledge required to inspect and clean machinery or material that may contribute to the spread of weeds, pests or diseases.

It is carried out under routine supervision within enterprise guidelines and training will include the examination of different areas on machinery and equipment, record and issues that pose a risk dispose of waste and infected material or weeds.

This training will include however is not limited to the below:

  • Select The Equipment And Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), And Location Of Site For Cleaning
  • Prepare To Inspect And Clean Machinery And Vehicles
  • Apply Safe Work Practices In The Context Of Own Work
  • Dispose Of Waste Materials
  • Record Cleaning History And Inspection Results
  • Types Of Contamination
  • Ways In Which Weeds, Pests And Soil Borne Diseases Can Be Spread By Machinery And Equipment
  • Cleaning Techniques Appropriate To Machinery, Vehicles And Types Of Contaminant
  • Safe Work Practices Associated With Inspecting And Cleaning Machinery
  • Methods Of Disposing Of Solid And Liquid Waste
  • Procedures For Completing Forms And Delivery Of Reports.
Target Audience

The course applies to individuals responsible for the inspection and cleaning of machinery that is being moved from one location to another to ensure that soil borne pathogens and weeds are not relocated to new sites. This course is also suitable for those who wish to work as inspectors of plant and machinery with regards to weed and seed.

While some students may have completed this (or a superseded) unit in the past and require a refresher; the target audience is typically persons with no or limited knowledge, skills and experience in this skill set.

Pre Course Learning

Students are required to complete Pre Course Learning for these Units of Competency.

Upon booking Students will receive an email Booking Confirmation with the Student Manual and Pre Course Questionnaire attached. The Student shall read the Student Manual and complete the Pre Course Questionnaire prior to the course commencement. These Pre Course Questionnaires will be reviewed by the Trainer / Assessor upon commencement of training.

Course Delivery

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Outcomes

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

Entry Requirements

All candidates must be literate in the English language (no interpreters allowed).

All students must be physically capable of cleaning machinery, vehicles and vehicles.

At enquiry, students can enter the program by expressing an interest and being sent an information pack that contains booking form and LLN pre assessment. This expression of interest enables the RTO and client to work together to identify any additional support needs & make adequate provisions.

No pre-requisites exist for this course.

Training & Education Pathways: After achieving these units of competency students may undertake a range of associated resources and infrastructure units and qualifications.

Employment Pathways: After achieving these units of competency students may seek employment in civil, construction, resources, manufacturing, utilities and maintenance industries.

Recognition Of Prior Learning And Credit Transfer

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgement of a persons current skills and knowledge acquired through previous training, work or life experience.

Credit Transfer (CT) is the granting of credit to an individual for units of competency / modules previous completed.

Equipment & PPE Requirements

Link Resources supply all equipment necessary for all students to undertake training and encourage students to bring along their own relevant equipment, procedures and other information.

For our public courses at our purpose built training facilities trainees must wear suitable clothing (t-shirt, pants and closed in footwear as a minimum).
