Traffic Control Refresher Training Course Overview

This program is designed for students who have previously finished the full Traffic Control course and require a refresher training. Refresher training is mandatory every 3-years and consists of the following phases:

  • 1 day theory course in the classroom
  • Supply evidence of 32 hours of traffic control in the last year
  • A letter or Third Party Report from your employer detailing the type of work you have performed

Once completed the Statement of Attainment must be taken to Qld Transport when lodging your Traffic Controllers Renewal Licence Application.

Target Audience

This course is aimed at those who are currently work in traffic control and have completed Traffic Control full course within the past 3 years.

pre course learning

There is no pre course learning required for this Unit of Competency.

Course Delivery

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Outcomes of Traffic Control Refresher Training

On completion of the program successful participants are issued the following Statements of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework which form part of the traffic controller skill set:

  • RIIWHS205E: Control traffic with stop-slow bat
  • RIICOM201E: Communicate in the workplace
  • RIIWHS201E: Work Safely and follow WHS Policies and Procedures

After issuance of the Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS205E: Control traffic with stop-slow bat, participants can then apply for the Traffic Controller Industry Authority Card renewal at any Queensland Department of Transport & Main Roads centre.

This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

Entry Requirements

Training Renewal Requirements:

Your Traffic Controller Licence must be renewed every 3-years. Traffic control duties must not be undertaken if your Traffic Controller Industry Authority Card has expired. The renewal process will also apply to participants holding a current out of state traffic controller licence.

Training & Education Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency students may undertake a range of associated resources and infrastructure units and qualifications.

Employment Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency students may maintain employment or additional responsibilities as a Traffic Controller in various industries.
