Standard 11 (S11) Training Course Overview

The Standard 11 mining Induction course/GI Coal Surface course (sometimes referred to as ‘GIQ’ or ‘Standard 11’) is suitable for any person working in the Queensland Coal and Metalliferous mining industry, or looking to work in the Queensland Coal and Metalliferous industry. Just like our Mining Supervisor S123 course, this Induction course is trained and assessed as per the Queensland Mining Safety Inspectorate and focuses on the below components:

  • Required knowledge of legislation
  • Appropriate equipment and PPE
  • General Safety (Including Risk Management)
  • Isolation and tagging
  • Emergency procedures
  • Lifesaving and initial response First Aid
  • Firefighting and fire prevention
  • The Environment
  • General mining overview

Target Audience

The Standard 11 Induction (GIQ) training and assessment are suitable for all personal that would like to enter and work in the Queensland mining industry. The Standard 11 course is suitable for those who have previously (within the past 5 years) completed the standard 11 (GIQ) training.

Course Delivery

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Outcomes of Standard 11 (S11) Training

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

Entry Requirements

All candidates must be literate in the English language (no interpreters allowed).

At enquiry, students can enter the program by expressing an interest and being sent an information pack that contains a booking notification and course information (Course Brochure). This interest process enables the RTO and client to work together to ensure the course is suitable for them and to identify any additional support needs & make adequate provisions.

No pre-requisites exist for these Units of Competency.

Pathways

Training & Education Pathways: After achieving these units of competency students may undertake a range of associated resources and infrastructure units and qualifications.

Employment Pathways: After achieving these units of competency students may seek employment in civil, construction, resources, manufacturing, utilities and maintenance industries.
