This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations. This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles. This unit is suitable for both experience, and non-experienced operators.
The unit is typically completed by personnel from below industries:
- General industry
- Civil Construction
- Civil Pipe laying
- Construction Industry
- Resource Industry
- New entrants to Industry
- Apprentices
While some candidates may have completed this (or a superseded) unit in the past and require a refresher; the target audience is typically persons with no or limited knowledge, skills and experience in this skill set.
Students are required to complete Pre Course Learning for these Units of Competency.
Upon booking students will receive an email Booking Confirmation with the Student Manual and Pre Course Questionnaire attached. The student shall read the Student Manual and complete the Pre Course Questionnaire prior to the course commencement. These Pre Course Questionnaires will be reviewed by the Trainer / Assessor upon commencement of training.
Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources Training purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Tectra Australia Pty Ltd (RTO 40889).

All students must be literate in the English language (no interpreters allowed).
All students must be physically capable of operating and maintaining a skid steer.
At enquiry, students can enter the program by expressing an interest and being sent an information pack that contains booking form and LLN pre assessment. This expression of interest enables the RTO and client to work together to identify any additional support needs & make adequate provisions.
No pre-requisites exist for this Unit of Competency.
Training & Education Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency students may undertake a range of associated plant operations units and qualifications.
Employment Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency students may seek employment in civil, construction, resources and transport industries.

Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgement of a persons current skills and knowledge acquired through previous training, work or life experience.
Credit Transfer (CT) is the granting of credit to an individual for units of competency / modules previous completed.

Equipment & PPE requirements
Link Resources supply all equipment necessary for all students to undertake training and encourage students to bring along their own relevant equipment, procedures and other information.
For our public courses at our purpose built training facilities trainees must wear suitable clothing (t-shirt, pants and closed in footwear as a minimum).
