This nationally accredited training covers all aspects of how to safely conduct lifting operations and combines it with operating an overhead (Gantry) crane. Link Resources provides the necessary skills and knowledge required to safely and competently lift various objects with fixed lifting points in accordance with a safe work method statement.
Students will be taught to:
- Operate a gantry crane
- Identify, report & record faults
- Undertake risk assessment and control
- Identify lifting equipment
- Lift and shift various loads safely
- Shut down equipment and cranes as per AS2550, manufacturer instructions and site procedures.
This target audience is for personnel employed or looking to be employed in the warehousing, manufacturing, construction, resources and transport industries who will lift various items with pre-selected lifting equipment in accordance with Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) or Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
Students are required to complete Pre Course Learning for these Units of Competency.
Upon booking students will receive an email Booking Confirmation with the Student Manual and Pre Course Questionnaire attached. The student shall read the Student Manual and complete the Pre Course Questionnaire prior to the course commencement. These Pre Course Questionnaires will be reviewed by the Trainer / Assessor upon commencement of training.
Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Link Resources Training purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Link Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO 45483).

All students must be literate in the English language (no interpreters allowed). All students must be physically capable of performing and operating an overhead or gantry crane, and perform load moving.
At enquiry, students can enter the program by expressing an interest and being sent an information pack that contains booking form and LLN pre assessment. This expression of interest enables the RTO and client to work together to identify any additional support needs & make adequate provisions.No pre-requisites exist for this Unit of Competency.
Training & Education Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency students may undertake a range of associated construction, resources, logistics and warehousing units and qualifications.
Employment Pathways: After achieving this unit of competency students may seek employment in warehousing, manufacturing, construction, resources and transport industries.

Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgement of a persons current skills and knowledge acquired through previous training, work or life experience.
Credit Transfer (CT) is the granting of credit to an individual for units of competency / modules previous completed.
Equipment & PPE requirements
Link Resources supply all equipment necessary for all students to undertake training and encourage students to bring along their own relevant equipment, procedures and other information.
For our public courses at our purpose built training facilities trainees must wear suitable clothing (t-shirt, pants and closed in footwear as a minimum).
